Markha Valley Trek and Stok Kangri Summit via Shang-Phu (11days- Camping)

Day 01: Acclimatize day at Leh Rest day, because, we care our clients very much, for that we are keeping a full day rest. So that the coming days will not be difficult. So taking rest is very important on arrival.  Night at Hotel/ Guest House at Leh.

 

Day 02: Visit Shey Palace with huge statue of Buddha and Thiksay monastery with statue of future Buddha with beautiful view of the valley and Hemis monastery as the richest and largest monastery in Ladakh. Back to Leh, Night at Hotel/Guest House.

 

Day 03: Drive to Chiling Bridge, 2-3hours.via national high way NH-01, after drive along Zanskar river towards Chiling, Trek to Sku. 2-3hours, today is first day of the trek, so you will walk for short day to Sku via Kaya. Night at Camp.

Day 04: Sku to Markha, 5-6hours. Trek along the Markha river, this day you will cross the river by foot, but the river level will not be high before noon. The water level is much down before noon, After reaching the camp and bit rest, visit Markha Gonpa, at a small hill lock with the old villages house nearby. Night at camp.

Day 05: Markha to Hankar 4-5hours.via many small villages, as you will pass by villages; there are many chances to see blue sheep and dears, day will not be difficult as you will walk just at the river levels. Night at camp.

Day 06: Hankar to Nimaling, 4hours. this day you will have spectacular view of Kangyatse peak and some wild animals like Pika, marmot and woolly hare, one the way you will see the ruin palaces of Hankar villages and after some time you will find another way going to the right by crossing as small bridge, which leads to another route Known as KHARNAK Valley Trek, but we will go to the left valley, and you will walk and walk, little bit higher and higher, you will have very beautiful views of different colored mountains and landscape etc. Night at camp.

Day 07: Nimaling to Chokdo via Kongmarula pass (5200mts), 5hours. This day you will go through the highest pass in this trek, but it really not difficult to get at the top, after the top, it will be more longer day, going down to Lartsa, Chuskurmo and after Chokdo, the mountain and formation are just amazing.  Night at camp.

Day 08: Chokdo to Shang-Phu, 5hours. From today you will start trekking towards west side which will lead towards Stok Kangri. Just following the route along the small rivers most of the days. Before reaching Shang-Phu you cross Gyuncho-la pass 3980mts. Night at camp.

Day 09: Shang-Phu to Gangpochey via Shang la 4560mts, 5hours. Going through the valley several time crossing the small rivers from down to Shang pass. After gradually trek till Gangpochey. Night at Camp.

 

Day 10: Gangpochey to Mankarmo via Matho la 4890mts, 4-5hours. After breakfast trek to Matho la and enjoy the beautiful views of the valley and the perfect view of Stok Kangri, after from the pass you will walk to Mankarmo which is the first base camp to Stok Kangri. Night at Camp.

Day 11: Mankarmo to Base Camp Stok Kangri 5480mts. Trek to Base Camp gradually, it will be short day trek by crossing the Stok Chu several times, after some time, you will have brought view of the destination the Stok Kangri 6123mts high peak. Rest and prepare for mid night summit to Stok Kangri. Night at Camp.

 

Day 12: Base Camp Stok Kangri to Summit Stok Kangri, it will be challenging day with lots of harsh climate especially in the morning, will be very cold, walking on glacier sometime and when you get the summit, it will be a life time achievement with beautiful views of white mountain and the ranges as Karakuram, Zanskar, and the Greater Himalaya. After spending less the half hour on top, trek back to Camp. Night at Camp.

 

Day 13: Base Camp Stok Kangri to Stok village, trek along the river with rocky ways, you will reach to Stok trekking point at Stok Village where your car are waiting. After drive to Leh. Evening explore Leh market. Nighat at Hotel/Guest House.

 

Day 14: Departure day Leh to Delhi with memories from Ladakh.
